In this article, we’ll be discussing a Bicycle Frame by Specialized, US design patent D908,890. The publication date is Jan. 5th, 2021 and the filing date is June 21st, 2018.
This is the Specialized Shiv and this is another design patent. I thought it looked so awesome I wanted it on the site. God damn, this thing looks like a spaceship.
The Shiv is Specialized’s time TT/tri/torture machine, that apparently scoots. If you want one and have an extra $13k to throw around, go here. That’s not an affiliate link but maybe Spesh will throw me a bone one day. Spesh, if you’re reading this, lets do a giveaway/contest for a custom painted Shiv that’s painted exactly like this design patent. Just eggshell and some grey contour lines. That’d look sick.
For those that don’t know, that funny looking tail behind the seat tube is actually a water bottle, and is also patented with utility patent 20190367115. I’m not going to write anything, since it’s already been released, but I thought it was really cool.
And here’s some images from the utility patent (the one that’ll actually protect this idea). The water bladder (56) sits behind the seat post in a container (54), a tube goes through the frame (dashed line), up the downtube, and through the stem so the insane people that actually ride these things can drink that sweet, sweet nectar while they’re on the edge of death.
